Dunedin Blue Jays News Release
Clearwater, FL.---RHP Jose Tavares was added to the Clearwater roster from Triple-A Lehigh Valley prior to today's game and fanned three in a seven inning performance to lead Clearwater to the 5-1 win.
Tavares registered a season high in innings pitched and pitches thrown at seven and 90 respectively. He held the Jays to just one hit through the first three innings and managed to wiggle out of a bases loaded jam unscaved in the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the second Matt Vierling continued his torrid pace against Dunedin with a leadoff double. Matt came around to score when D-Jays started RHP Graham Spraker threw one away down the right-field side on a squibber of the bat of Nick Maton. Homers from Simon Muzziotti, Dalton Guthrie, and Luke Miller in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings capped off the scoring on the evening for the Threshers.
Norberto Obeso provided the only positive for Dunedin offensively with his first homerun of the year in the seventh. The series will finish up tomorrow afternoon at Spectrum Field at 1:00. RHP Simeon Woods Richardson (0-1, 7.36) will make his second start for Dunedin, against Clearwater right-handed starter Andrew Brown (2-6, 7.12). The game broadcast will be available across the Dunedin Blue Jays Baseball Network powered by TuneIn.
