Tauros Fall Saturday Night
March 4, 2023 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Minot Minotauros News Release
Aberdeen, SD - The Tauros went into Aberdeen with a chance to jump into second place in the Central Division with a sweep and some help from North Iowa but after a thrilling come-from-behind win on Friday night the Tauros were unable to complete the sweep on Saturday in a disappointing loss that undid the work of the previous night.
Both games followed a similar script with the Wings scoring on their first shot on goal each night. On Friday Michael Casey opened the scoring 3:21 into the contest and on Saturday night, the Wings teddy bear toss game, it was Dylan Wegner bringing the sprinkling of bears just 15 seconds in.
Both nights would see the Tauros comeback and tie the game at one as well. On Friday Hunter Longhi converted during a 4-on-3 power play in the second to knot the game at one. Then on Saturday Chase LaPinta got his 26th of the season at 4:26 of the first to even the score.
Both nights saw the 1-1 tie carry into the start of the third period as well along with one of the teams seizing the game with a burst of offense in the third. On Friday that team was the Tauros with Braden Fischer, Adam Mahler, Trevor Stachowiak sending the Tauros out to a 4-1 lead. The Wings would eventually add a late power play goal in the games waning minutes but the result was never in doubt. Unfortunately for the Tauros it was the Wings who would put a stranglehold on Saturday's contest ripping off five unanswered in the third for a 6-1 win.
Next up for the Tauros is perhaps the most important four game stretch of the season with four of the Tauros final six home games starting with a weekend set against North Iowa followed by a pair against St. Cloud. This Saturday the Tauros are partnering with Farmers Union Insurance for a food drive/jersey giveaway. The first 750 fans who bring three non-perishable food items or a $10 donation will receive a Tauros/Farmers Union hockey jersey. Tickets for all six remaining home games are available through the "Tickets" tab atop this page or at tickets.minotauroshockey.com.
