
Mudbugs Sweep IceRays for a Third Time this Season

The Shreveport Mudbugs (27-14-7) got timely goals and stellar goaltending once again to help shutout the Corpus Christi IceRays, 3-0 and earn another sweep at the American Bank Center Saturday night.
The Bugs got off to a fast start at just 1:24 into the game, it was Nick Marino's shoveling home a rebound in front for his third goal in this series. It was Marino's eighth goal of the year assisted by Jake Mack and Ryan Burke to make it a 1-0 contest. SOG were tied 9-9 after one.
After a scoreless second period, the Bugs cashed in on the PP at 9:30 of the third when Nik Miller redirected home his seventh tally of the year in front to push the lead to 2-0. Eric Vitale and Alex Park earned the helpers on Miller's goal. SHV would then put the icing on the cake at 19:50 when Park would power home his third goal of the season on the PP from the high slot to close out a 3-0 victory over the IceRays.
Simon Bucheler made 23 stops to earn his fourth shutout of the season and 21st win to help the Bugs earn another sweep over Corpus Christi.
The Bugs return home to host the Amarillo Wranglers for a two-game series at George's Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. Game 1 will be next Friday night w/ puck drop scheduled for 7:11 p.m.
