Tampa Bay Lightning Assign Andrei Vasilevskiy to the Syracuse Crunch

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Tampa Bay Lightning have assigned goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy to the Syracuse Crunch for conditioning, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today.

Vasilevskiy, 21, appeared in 16 games with the Lightning last season, posting a record of 7-5-1 to go along with a 2.36 goals-against average and .918 save percentage. He recorded his first career NHL shutout on March 3 against the Buffalo Sabres. Vasilevskiy also appeared in four Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Lightning last year, registering a record of 1-1.

The 6-foot-3, 212-pound goaltender has played in 25 career AHL games, all with the Crunch last season, compiling a record of 14-6-5 to go along with a 2.45 goals-against average and .917 save percentage. Vasilevskiy was named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week on December 15 after going 2-0-0 with a 0.50 goals-against average and .982 save percentage during the week.

Vasilevskiy was drafted by Tampa Bay in the first round, 19th overall, of the 2012 NHL Draft.

Vasilevskiy is expected to start against the Toronto Marlies tonight at 7 p.m.
