Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release

WINNIPEG, MB - Winnipeg Blue Bombers G.M. Brendan Taman took one for the team today - and CancerCare Manitoba and the Never Alone Foundation could not have been happier.

Taman promised late last month to shave his head in support of the Never Alone Foundation if Bomber fans pledged enough money to make it happen.

The hair-razing idea was the brainchild of Bombers president and CEO Lyle Bauer and POWER 97 FM's morning show co-hosts Hal Anderson and Dave Wheeler, following the recent CUTS FOR CANCER fund-raising event at the MTS Centre.

Bomber fans pledged in excess of $6,000 dollars and Taman followed through on his promise earlier today when his dusky locks were clipped shortly after 9 a.m. The event took place in the POWER 97 studios and was broadcast live on air.

"I can't believe it was over so quickly, after all those years of growing my hair out and countless dollars on hair products," Taman said of his hair-razing experience. "I just hope it grows back.

"But I was glad to do whatever I could to support Never Alone and CancerCare Manitoba."

The Never Alone Foundation was created by Bombers President and CEO Lyle Bauer following his own battle with cancer. The aim of the foundation is to assist cancer sufferers and their families through research and education. The foundation will hold its annual luncheon April 12 at Canad Inns - Polo Park.
