Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Tacoma Rainiers took an 8-6 decision over the Salt Lake Bees on Sunday afternoon to wrap up the six-game series at Smith's Ballpark. Despite the loss on Sunday, the Bees took the series four games to two.

The two teams traded runs throughout the game before the Rainiers took control with a four-run eighth inning that started with two outs and nobody on base to take an 8-4 lead. Salt Lake fought back with runs in the eighth and ninth innings but left the tying run at the plate in the final frame. Jared Oliva was the offensive star for the Bees, finishing the day 2-for-3 with a pair of solo home runs. Michael Stefanic added three hits to his season tally to extend his on-base streak to 38 consecutive games, now five games short of the franchise record.

Control was an issue for both pitching staffs as the two teams combined for 16 walks, four wild pitches and four hit by pitches. Kenny Rosenberg got the start for the Bees and allowed three runs over four innings of work. Cam Vieaux (1-3) took the loss after allowing three runs in an inning of relief work.

The Bees (15-18) will take Monday off before traveling to Sacramento for a six-game series with the River Cats. Salt Lake returns home on Tuesday, May 16 for a series with the Las Vegas Aviators.
