
Tacoma shuts out Tucson in finale

Three Tacoma pitchers allowed just four hits Monday afternoon in a 4-0 shutout of Tucson at Cheney Stadium. Tucson finished the season with a Sidewinders record 74 wins and a 74-70 record. The Sidewinders also finished the 14-game road trip with an 8-6 record. Tucson won 22 of its last 34 games to finish with the winning campaign.
Tacoma jumped in front of Tucson 3-0 in the second inning. Tony Zuniga tripled off Sidewinders starter Jose Silva, plating Vince Faison and Jim Horner who had singled. Zuniga scored on a base hit from Mike Collins.
Tacoma starter John Kelly kept Tucson off the board through his six innings of work. Kelly struck out nine Sidewinders while earning his first ever Triple-A victory.
Jose Silva suffered the loss to fall to 2-3, allowing the three runs in his six innings of work.
Tucson will begin the 2005 season Thursday April 7 at Salt Lake.
