Tacoma Defiance News Release
TACOMA, WASH. - Tacoma Defiance (8-5-6, 30 points) defeated Las Vegas Lights FC (5-14-2, 17 points) 2-1 Thursday evening, staying unbeaten at home this season in nine matches (6-0-3). With the win, Tacoma moves into a tie for second place in the Pacific Division standings with Orange County SC and San Diego Loyal SC.
It was captain Tom Brewitt who got the home side on the board first, finishing a close-range attempt when a headed ball by Sam Adeniran found the feet of the Liverpool native. Brewitt was able to complete the easy tap-in for his second goal in as many games. Las Vegas evened the score in the 62nd minute courtesy of Eric Iloski when his curling shot from outside the 18-yard-box found the top corner of the net. Adeniran put Tacoma up 2-1 in spectacular fashion in the 86th minute, spinning around from just inside the area and launching a ball into the top-right corner of the net to give Defiance the late winner.
Tacoma faces a quick turnaround against Pacific Division-leading Phoenix Rising FC on Sunday, September 5 (1:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+).
