Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ (September 22, 2008) - The Trenton Devils announced today that the Trenton Marriott at Lafayette Yard will serve as the team's official host hotel for the 2008-09 season. Based in downtown Trenton, NJ, it will host the Devils' opponents, families, and fans.
"The partnership with the Trenton Marriott enables us to offer visiting teams coming into Trenton an opportunity to stay at a Four-Star hotel while at the same time, drive business to the downtown area," said Trenton Devils Executive Director Jim Leahy.
The deal gives Trenton's opponents the opportunity to use the Marriott for their overnight stays for each of its 36 home games, beginning Friday, October 17 vs. Johnstown. It is expected that visiting fans from other ECHL cities will also stay at the same hotel as their favorite team.
"It's not surprising that the Trenton Devils would select the Trenton Marriott as their host hotel," Mayor Douglas H. Palmer said. "It's a high-quality hotel in a terrific location, with access to numerous historic, cultural, and entertainment attractions nearby - including their home arena. We're looking forward to an action-packed and enjoyable hockey season and on behalf of our city, we welcome everyone associated with the ECHL."
This season marks the first time in Trenton's ten-year history that the official host hotel is located within New Jersey's capital city.
"I am extremely excited about being able to partner up with a Trenton asset such as the Trenton Devils to provide accommodations for visiting teams and fans," said Jeff Zeiger, general manager of the Trenton Marriott at Lafayette Yard. "We view this as a community partnership with the Devils to support and continue to bring folks to the downtown Trenton area."
