
T-Bones Fall Short of Sweep, 6-4

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Rockford RiverHawks (39-39) fought off a three-game sweep by the Kansas City T-Bones (45-33) with a 6-4 win Sunday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
A two-run home run by Jacob Blackwood off Kyle Wright (7-2) gave the T-Bones their first lead of the game in the third inning. Rockford answered in the fourth, scoring three runs off Reid Santos (4-5) with a two-run home run by Evan McArthur and an RBI single by Bud Long.
Kansas City regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run home run by Dwayne White before the RiverHawks plated a run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Long that tied the game at four.
Rich Austin hit a home run to begin the seventh and give Rockford a 5-4 advantage. Santos left in favor of Steven Stewart after retiring the next two batters, allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out two in the loss. Stewart threw one and one-thirds perfect innings, striking out one.
Wright earned the win, allowing four runs on five hits and one walk over six and one-thirds innings, striking out nine.
John Wagle singled off Francis Beltran with one out in the ninth and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Jason James, capping the scoring at 6-4. Scott Roehl threw a scoreless ninth for Rockford to earn his 14th save of the season.
The T-Bones open a three-game series against Winnipeg Monday night as Kevin Light (3-0, 3.35) takes the mound for Kansas City. The Goldeyes have yet to announce a starter. First pitch is set for 7:05. Catch all the action online at www.tbonesbaseball.com or on the radio at KXTR 1660 AM.
