KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Weather halted the Rockford RiverHawks' momentum. The Kansas City T-Bones ended the RiverHawks' winning streak.

The T-Bones swept the RiverHawks, 4-2 and 3-1, Saturday at CommunityAmerica Ballpark to end Rockford's eight-game winning streak. The streak, tied for second-longest in team history, was put on hold when Friday's series opener was rained out.

The RiverHawks fell a game under .500 and back into a three-way tie for the fourth and final Northern League playoff spot with Joliet and Winnipeg. The Jackhammers beat Schaumburg, 10-9, in the completion of Friday's suspended game. They lost the scheduled game, 5-0. Winnipeg was rained out of its game against Fargo-Moorhead. With twin wins, KC tied Fargo for first place.

In the opener, KC never trailed. In the first inning, Ray Sadler hit a two-run homer just inside the foul pole in left field. The RiverHawks rallied to tie the game in the second inning on a RBI double by Travis Scott and a RBI single by Bud Long.

The T-Bones broke a 2-2 tie on Dwayne White's second-inning RBI single. Jake Blackwood hit his 15th home run, to the short porch in left field, in the third inning.

KC starter Ryan Knippschild (8-6) held the RiverHawks to one hit after the second inning and pitched a five-hitter for the win. Rockford starter Brett Durand (7-7) gave up eight hits in a complete-game loss. He struck out six and walked two.

In the nightcap, Kansas City starter Andrew Cruse (9-4) pitched a six-hitter for the win.

Kansas City broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the sixth inning off Rockford starter Roger Lincoln (5-7). Blackwood led off with a single and scored from first on Rico Washington's double to the gap in left-center field. Washington later scored on a wild pitch.

The RiverHawks will be back on the air for Sunday's 5:05 p.m. series finale.

The RiverHawks are home for a doubleheader against Fargo at 6:05 p.m. Monday.
