WHL Seattle Thunderbirds

T-Birds Partner with KJR-AM

October 13, 2004 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Seattle Thunderbirds News Release

The Seattle Thunderbirds are pleased to announce a partnership with SportsRadio 950 KJR-AM for the 2004-05 season.

The partnership between the Thunderbirds and KJR- AM will incorporate on-air, on-site and online promotions with charitable giving.

For each power-play goal scored at home during the 2004-05 season KJR and their partners will donate $100 to the Ronald McDonald House on behalf of the Seattle Thunderbirds. After each Thunderbirds power- play goal the public address announcer will highlight the on-air tie with KJR-AM.

"The Thunderbirds organization is excited to partner with KJR. This program will be a great compliment to the Hockey Challenge, which has raised over $2 million for the Seattle Ronald McDonald House," said Thunderbirds Assistant General Manager Colin Campbell.

The popular Groz with Gas program, heard from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, will do a re- cap feature segment the day following every home game throughout the season. If the home game falls on a weekend, the feature will be on Monday. The segment will re-cap the game, the number of power plays and the number of power-play goals scored by the Thunderbirds. This feature will allow Thunderbirds players, coaches and hockey related people to participate in the Groz with Gas program.

"This is another great way for our strong personalities of Groz and Gas to give back to the community while putting their spin on it: score some goals," said Rich Moore, Program Director of Sports Radio 950 KJR.

The Thunderbirds are a member of the Western Hockey League (WHL), one of three leagues in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). Last year, 44 players were drafted by NHL clubs from the WHL, more than any other league or college conference. The Thunderbirds play their home schedule at KeyArena. Thunderbirds single game and season tickets can be purchased by contacting the Thunderbirds ticket office at 206-448-PUCK or online at www.seattlethunderbirds.com.

Sports Radio 950 KJR-AM is owned and operated by Clear Channel Communications, Inc.
