
Syracuse Crunch Allen York Recalled from ECHL

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch have recalled goaltender Allen York from the ECHL's Florida Everblades, general manager Julien BriseBois announced today.
York, 25, has played in 17 games with the Everblades this season, posting a 13-3-0-1 record, 2.45 goals-against average and .905 save percentage. The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) alumnus has two shutouts for the Everblades: Nov. 1 with 21 saves vs. Orlando and Nov. 22 with 24 saves against Gwinnett.
York, 6 feet 3 inches and 185 pounds, has five wins in his last six games and won eight consecutive starts from Oct. 26 to Nov. 22. He was selected CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Oct. 27-Nov. 2, recording two wins, a shutout and a .962 save percentage in two games.
Last season York played for six teams: four in the AHL (Charlotte, Texas, Rockford and Syracuse) and two in the ECHL (Evansville and South Carolina). The Wetaskiwin, Alberta native started four games for the Crunch and posted a 1-2-1 record including a 39-save shutout of Hershey Feb. 22.
York has appeared in 40 career AHL games for Springfield, Charlotte, Texas, Rockford and Syracuse compiling a 21-12-3 record, 2.57 goals-against average and .907 save percentage. He reached the NHL during the 2011-12 season and went 3-2-0 in 11 games for the Blue Jackets. York was drafted by Columbus in the sixth round, 158th overall, at the 2007 NHL Draft.
The Crunch, with points in each of their last six road games, visit Rochester Wednesday, Albany Friday and Binghamton Saturday. Syracuse next plays at home Jan. 10 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
