Syracuse Mets News Release
The Syracuse Chiefs, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are pleased to announce a partnership with Time Warner Cable Sports to televise more than a quarter of the team's regular season schedule of games in 2010.
A total of 38 games--21 at home and 17 on the road--will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable Sports. Tomorrow's 2:00pm season opener between the Chiefs and Lehigh Valley IronPigs will be the first game on the slate of broadcasts
This is the continuation of a lengthy partnership between the Chiefs and Time Warner Cable Sports, Central New York's premier local sports station that currently reaches 650,000 households in upstate New York.
The Chiefs' television schedule is highlighted by 12 games against the Buffalo Bisons and 11 against the Rochester Red Wings. In addition to the 23 home and away "Thruway Series" telecasts, home games against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Charlotte Knights, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, and Columbus Clippers are also on the TV docket, as is a road game at Toledo.
"We are very appreciative that our partnership with Time Warner Cable allows us to provide our fans with so many televised games," said Chiefs General Manager John Simone. "These games are an important part of our marketing mix and giving our fans increased access to the team is very exciting."
The TV broadcast team for home games will consist of Jason Benetti, the voice of the Syracuse Chiefs, as well as former Major League pitcher Steve Grilli. Road telecasts that are carried locally will feature the broadcasters of the home teams.
