July 29, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Sporting Kansas City II News Release
The Swope Park Rangers are back in action this weekend with a home matchup against San Antonio FC on Saturday night at Swope Soccer Village. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT and the game will be available via live stream on SportingKC.com, while tickets are available 90be593c1c0a92fc0bbd4b1c4 here.
The Rangers enter the weekend in the eighth and final playoff position in the USL Western Conference, having gone 7-8-4 (25 pts.) in 2016. The side is unbeaten in it's last two games after playing to a 1-1 draw with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC last Wednesday before earning a 3-0 victory over Orange County Blues FC on Saturday.
In their most recent game, the Rangers took the lead over Orange County in the 43rd minute when Dane Kelly was played through by Alex Molano, and the Jamaican forward slotted into the corner for his second goal of the season and extended his lead as the USL's all-time leading scorer with 44 goals. In the second half, Ayrton came off the bench to set up goals for Mark Anthony Gonzalez and Johnny Grant as SPR sealed the three points and moved into a playoff spot.
San Antonio FC sits just one place and one point back of the Rangers, going 6-6-6 (24 pts.) this season while sitting in ninth place in the USL Western Conference. Most recently, San Antonio saw a six-game unbeaten streak snapped by LA Galaxy II, who ran out 3-2 winners at Toyota Field last Saturday.
After going ahead early through Rafael Castillo, San Antonio conceded goals to Jose Villarreal, Jack McBean and Jaime Villarreal before halftime to put LA Galaxy II into a commanding 3-1 lead. Stephen McCarthy pulled a goal back late for San Antonio but it wasn't enough as the Galaxy ran out 3-2 winners on the road.
The Rangers will be hosting c77e0bc09181a1a5460d8aa88 Swope Park Rangers Appreciation Day and Swope Park Appreciation Night on Saturday, with Fifth District Councilwoman Alissia Canady set to be in attendance as the honorary Host of the Match. In addition, fans are encouraged to enter the Swope Park Raffle to win tickets to various attractions and events around Swope Park, including prizes worth over $1,200. Raffle tickets are $1 apiece and all proceeds will benefit c24629ef77f980676efc9fc8b The Victory Project.
