Match Preview: Sacramento Republic FC vs Rio Grande Valley FC Toros

Sacramento Republic FC (8-6-5, 29 pts) travel to Texas to take Rio Grande Valley FC Toros (7-5-7, 28 pts) on Saturday, July 30. Kickoff is 5:30 p.m. at H-E-B Park. Republic FC will hold their official watch party at de Vere's Irish Pub in downtown Sacramento and the match will be streamed live at SacRepublicFC.com/matchday.

This is the second of two matches between Republic FC and the Toros this season. A late goal from Emrah Klimenta lifted Republic FC to a 3-2 victory in the first match between the two clubs at Bonney Field on June 18.

Republic FC enter the match following a 1-2 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Sunday, July 24. Saturday's match will be the fourth of five consecutive road matches. Republic FC is currently 0-2-1 on the stretch but will look to take points from the Toros for the second time this season.

Forward Cameron Iwasa scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season against WFC2 on Sunday. Iwasa scored his first career brace and recorded an assist against the Toros on June 18. He has scored four goals in his last seven matches, including two in the last three.

Midfielder Danny Barrera recorded his league-leading seventh assist of the season on Iwasa's goal on Sunday. Barrera is one assist shy of tying the club record for most assists in a single season. Rodrigo Lopez recorded eight assists in the 2014 USL season. Barrera is also just three shy of the all-time club record for assists. Lopez recorded 13 between 2014 and 2015.

The Toros come into the match after two weeks off. RGV last played on July 13, a 4-0 win over WFC2. The Toros are unbeaten in their last three matches, recording back-to-back scoreless draws against Tulsa Roughnecks FC (July 2) and Oklahoma City Energy FC (July 10).

Midfielder Jose "Memo" Rodriguez leads the Toros offensively. He has a club-leading six goals, while adding two assists on the season. He also leads the club in shots and shots on goal. Rodriguez is a Homegrown Player for the Toros' MLS affiliate club, the Houston Dynamo.

Houston Dynamo third round 2016 MLS SuperDraft pick Robert Casner leads the Toros with five assists on the season, third most in the USL this season. He has also scored a goal. Casner scored 17 goals and recorded 12 assists in four seasons at Clemson.
