The Swope Park Rangers cruised to a 3-0 victory over Orange County Blues FC on Saturday night at Swope Soccer Village to jump into the eighth and final playoff position in the USL Western Conference. Dane Kelly put the Rangers ahead just before halftime before two goals in three minutes in the second half from Mark Anthony Gonzalez and Johnny Grant sealed the three points.
The Rangers (7-8-4, 25 pts.) and the Blues (6-9-4, 22 pts.) traded chances in the opening period, with Kelly forcing an early save from Brandon Miller before Orange County leading scorer Didier Crettenand twice fired off target when well placed.
Kelly threatened again in the 16th minute when he received a pass from Ualefi, cut the ball back to his left foot and curled an effort narrowly over the bar. Six minutes later, Jon Kempin was called into action for the first time as Trevin Caesar meandered past the SPR defense and Kempin
