Colorado Springs, Colo. (Wednesday, June 3, 2015) - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC are hoping to capitalize on home-field advantage and put another check in the win column this weekend.
Switchbacks FC (4-5-0, 12 points) are taking on fellow USL Western Conference club Whitecaps FC 2 (3- 4-3, 12 points) this Saturday night at Sand Creek Stadium.
"We are looking forward to playing Whitecaps FC 2," said Switchbacks Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "This will be their third game in seven days, so we are looking for a strong start and using the altitude to our advantage."
Switchbacks FC are coming off of a four-game stretch with a home win against USL Western Conference club Arizona United SC, a heartbreaking road loss to LA Galaxy II, and two Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup wins.
This is the inaugural season for Whitecaps FC 2, which was formed out of its MLS club, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, to serve as a bridge between the club's Residency program and the MLS first team.
Whitecaps FC 2 have played in one more match than Switchbacks FC, and are playing another match Wednesday, June 3rd . As of now, Whitecaps FC 2 and Switchbacks FC are tied with 12 points each in the Western Conference standings.
