Penn FC News Release
Harrisburg, PA (June 3, 2015) - After dropping their first game in almost two months the Harrisburg City Islanders will look to get back to their winning ways at home when they face off against Toronto FC II.
Saturday's match is the first meeting between the two teams in their clubs history. Toronto FC II is one of the newest teams to the league and is currently sitting in the bottom three of the tables.
Harrisburg is returning home after a tough loss in Pittsburgh just a week ago. The Islanders gave up three goals in extra-time alone and fell 6-5 after leading by as many as three goals at half. The loss dropped the Islanders to fifth place in the league, two points behind the Riverhounds.
The loss in Pittsburgh came after a quick turnaround from the 120-minute U.S. Open Cup battle against Rochester that took place only two days before. Both losses saw the Islanders fall within the finals minutes of the game.
Five different Islanders scored goals in the match against Pittsburgh, which keeps with the way the Islanders have been playing this season with 12 different players notching a goal and 15 getting points thus far. Ken Tribbett and Jason Plumhoff are tied for the lead in points with six.
Toronto has only won two games this season and hasn't scored a goal in their last two games. They have only scored eight goals on the season and have given up almost twenty. In their last game they were able to hold their own against Rochester in a 0-0 draw.
Following an unfortunately week, it is going to take a lot of mental strength for Harrisburg to put those two loses behind them and turn back to their recent success. Having only played 8 games so far this season a win will put Harrisburg within points of Pittsburgh and Louisville who have both played 10 matches thus far.
"It's good to be back home. We are 2-0 on the Island and excited to face Toronto this Saturday." Islanders Head Coach Bill Becher added, "Last weekend was a tough loss, but we have moved past it and are ready to get back on track."
Harrisburg's next home game will be Friday, June 19 (7:30 p.m.) against Rochester Rhinos. For more information on the City Islanders please visit www.cityislanders.com or call 717-441-GOAL (4265).
