Switchbacks to Host Playoffs Match Friday

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Saturday, September 19, 2015) - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC are heading into the playoffs in their first year!

The Switchbacks will be hosing the playoff match on Friday, September 25th .

The date was set Saturday night, when the Switchbacks fell to the LA Galaxy II by a score of 1-0 in their final regular-season match. Now, the team is looking ahead to playoffs.

"We didn't have good enough quality in the final third and didn't keep up the speed of play when we were up a player," said Switchbacks FC Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "We need to regroup and get ready for our home playoff game next week."

LA Galaxy II got the drop on the Switchbacks in the 10th minute with a shot by Ariel Lassiter (#46) from 25 yards out that went into the left side of the net. The Switchbacks kept fighting for a goal, but were not able to find the back of the net.

"Obviously we are disappointed with the results tonight," said Switchbacks FC Team Captain Luke Vercollone. "We are frustrated we couldn't get the ball into the back of the net, but we have to give LA credit for a good job defending. Now we have to forget this game and prepare for the playoffs."

The Switchbacks (14-10-4, 46 pts.) will end the USL regular season in the top four of the Western Conference - depending on the results of other matches going on over the next few days. Now, the team is putting the regular season behind them and focusing on the playoffs and a shot at the USL Championship.

The Switchbacks' playoff match will be Friday, September 25th at 7 p.m. right here at Sand Creek Stadium.
