Colorado Springs, CO - The Switchbacks lost a tightly contested game 1-0 to Orange County SC on Tuesday night in front of 4,521 fans at Weidner Field.

Coming off of a 1-1 draw against San Antonio FC just three days earlier, the Switchbacks started the game with an early lapse in concentration. In the second minute, Michael Seaton ran between the center backs to get on the end of a long through ball and he didn't need a second opportunity to put the visitors ahead 1-0. The Switchbacks had a similar opportunity when Saeed Robinson got behind the defense in the 35th minute but his shot was saved by Orange County goalkeeper, Casey Beyers.

The second half started with energy when AJ Ajeakwa crossed the ball in Shane Malcolm in the 52nd minute but his header was saved by Beyers. Just three minutes later, Saeed Robinson tackled the ball away from the defender to set himself up but his shot was high over the crossbar. Steward Ceus added another highlight reel save to his 2018 season when he reached up with his right hand to deny USL leading goal scorer, Thomas Enevoldsen. With ten minutes to go before full time, Tobenna Uzo brought the ball down in the box when he was fouled to earn a penalty kick. Jordan Burt took the ensuing penalty but he put it wide left of the goal to miss his first penalty of the season. That would be the difference as the Switchbacks couldn't find an equalizer and the game finished 0-1 in favor of Orange County SC.

"It was a good fight on both sides. They came out ready to play. The players that got subbed on to help us come back did really well," said Man of the Match, AJ Ajeakwa. "We just have to finish our opportunities. We had opportunities we could have finished so the game could have gone either way. At the end of the day, we can't blame anybody else but ourselves."

The Switchbacks now go on the road to face the OKC Energy on July 7th. The Switchbacks return home again on July 14th to face the Sacramento Republic FC where the first 500 fans in attendance will receive a premium bottle and bag courtesy of Heat Depot Home Solutions. Tickets start at just $12 and are available here. Fans 21+ can get $1 beer the first 30 minutes when gates open at 5:00 PM.
