Walla Walla Sweets News Release

Kelowna, BC- The Sweets tied the series up in Kelowna with a 4-3 victory on Saturday night. Walla Walla (16-16) was able to come back against the Falcons (20-9) and hold on for tight win.

The Falcons put up multiple runs in the first for the second straight night. They go two runs off of starter Micah Gorman (4-1), who ended up with the win in the ballgame. He went five strong innings, only yielding five hits and two runs while striking out two.

The Sweets battled back in the third and scored two runs to tie the game. Myles Hager knocked Connor Kopach in with an RBI double and Nick Halamandaris then hit an RBI triple to score Hager.

Walla Walla scored again in the sixth and seventh. Kyle Dozier picked up an RBI single that scored Alex McKenna in the sixth and then, the Sweets made the seventh interesting.

They go two on with no outs, but could not push anyone across until Kopach scored on an error by the third baseman with two outs. Hager, who hit into the error, was called safe at first on a close play as the first baseman appeared to have lifted his foot off the bag. The Head Coach for the Falcons, Billy Clontz, got thrown out of the game for arguing the call, but the Sweets took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

In the bottom of the frame, the Falcons would make it a one-run ballgame, at 4-3, on a solo home run, but Joe DeMers of the Sweets came in and shut the door in the final two frames to pick up the save.

The rubber game of the series is slated for 6:05pm tomorrow at Elks Stadium. You can tune in on ESPN Walla Walla or online at wallawallasweets.com/press/listen.
