Rogues Unable to Take Game Three from Elks

BEND, OR - Under a cloudy sky in Bend, the Rogues were unable to fight back and take game three from the Bend Elks. Despite one run in the top of the ninth inning, Medford was unable to close in on Bend and fell in game three, 4-3. Medford's league record now falls to 13-17.

Bend jumped on the board early in the first inning and held on to the 1-0 lead until fifth inning when Tony Roque reached base on an error then was brought home when the bases were loaded and Sam Boone walked J.J. Kitaoka. Jimmy Wright broke the tie with a solo homerun in the seventh inning, heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. The Elks scored three runs in the seventh and led 4-2. The Rogues were able to plate one run in the top of the ninth but it wasn't enough and Medford fell to Bend, 4-3.

Jimmy Wright led the Rogues offensively with a solo home run, one run and one RBI. Wright's season batting average is now at .194. Stefan Panayioutou went one for four at the plate and improved his batting average to .283.

On the mound for Medford, Jackson Bertsch got the start for the Rogues. Bertsch went 6.1 innings, gave up four hits and two earned runs. He walked two and struck out two, and got the loss. Nate Hunter earned the win for the Elks, Hunter went 4.1 innings, walked two, struck out two and gave up one run on one hit.

The Rogues will be back in Medford for a six-game homestand first against the Victoria Harborcats and then they face the Kitsap BlueJackets.
