
Medford Takes Game Two against Bend

BEND, OR - The Rogues and Elks met again in game two and the Rogues were able to hold on to an early lead, led by outstanding pitching by Rogues starter, Kohl Hostert. Medford was able to keep the lead until the ninth inning, beating the Elks, 4-1. The Rogues league record now stands at 13-16.
The Rogues first got on the board in the third inning with a solo homerun by J.J. Kitaoka. T.K. McWhertor crossed the plate in the fifth inning, after reaching on a leadoff double. Two more runs scored in the eighth inning for the Rogues, making it a 4-0 ballgame heading into the bottom of the eighth. Elks bats were quiet against Medford pitching and finally scored in the eighth, but it wasn't enough and the Rogues pulled off the win, 4-1.
J.J. Kitaoka led the Rogues offensively with two hits in three plate appearances. With his solo homerun, he had one RBI and one run, now with a season batting average of .264. T.K. McWhertor was also very strong at the plate with one hit in four at bats, and one run scored. McWhertor's season batting average now sits at .304.
Kohl Hostert earned the win for the Rogues on the mound. Hostert pitched a solid eight innings giving up one run and six hits. He struck out two batters and walked one with no earned runs scored against him. Hostert's season ERA now sits at 3.94. Rio Gomez for Bend went eight innings, gave up six hits, four runs, walked one and struck out three Rogues batters. Gomez got the loss for the Elks and now has an ERA of 4.40.
Medford and Bend face off again in game three tomorrow at 1:05pm before the Rogues head back to Medford for a six-game homestand against the Victoria Harbourcats and the Kitsap BlueJackets.
