Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The RailRiders leapt out to a 5-0 lead and held on for a 7-5 victory against the Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field on Tuesday night. The RailRiders improved to a season-high 10 games above .500 with their season-best fifth straight road win. The club has scored 48 runs in beginning this road trip 5-0. The Mud Hens have lost six of seven and nine of 12.

ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMIN: Ben Gamel tripled for the third time in as many days. He went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Gamel's 14 triples in 2015 tied him for second in the minors. A .250 hitter after an 0-for-4 showing versus Louisville on May 24, he has since gone 30-for-78 over his last 19 games, slashing .385/.467/.564/1.031. He has his average up to .299 (T-10th in IL), the highest it has been since he closed play at Rochester on May 1 at .305.

GARY GOT IT: Gary Sanchez launched his seventh home run, a towering blast off of top-tier signage alongside the video board in left. The big fly tied him for second on the squad. He went 2-for-4 with a walk and three RBIs. He missed two-and-a-half weeks on the DL (cracked right thumb), but owns an eight-game hitting streak during which he has gone 12-for-32 with four extra-base hits, eight RBIs and five runs scored slashing .375/.429/.625/1.054. He has his batting average up to a season-high .291.

LAW & ORDER: Aaron Judge reached base four times. He logged a 2-for-3 night with two walks and two runs scored. He also stole a base and stands 4-for-4 in stolen-base attempts on the year. His average bottomed out at .221 after an 0-for-3 day versus Columbus during an 0-for-24 tailspin. Since then, he has hit in 10 of 11, going 16-for-39 with two homers, eight RBIs, 11 walks and 16 runs scored. In that time he has slashed .410/.549/.641/1.190 while his average has shot up to .252, the best it has been since an 0-for-3 night in a May 18 nightcap at Louisville had him at .257.

SOL MAN: Donovan Solano went 2-for-5 with a run scored, his third multi-hit showing over his last five games. It has come after a 10-game slide that saw him go 3-for-39, 0XBH, 1BB, 10K.

ROAD WARRIORS: The RailRiders posted their IL-best 21st road win. At 21-12 away from PNC Field, the club is on pace to win 46 games away from NEPA. That would break the franchise record of 45 set by the Marc Bombard's 2002 Red Barons who won 91 games with players like Chase Utley, Marlon Byrd, Brett Myers and Joe Roa. The 2015 RailRiders led the IL with 42 road wins. The Yankees-era record came in 2012 when the IL North champs won 43 "road" games. That team played without a home stadium during PNC Field's reconstruction and posted all of its 84 wins outside of Moosic.

GETTING SERIESOUS: Today the RailRiders look to secure the series. Last year's unit won two of the three at Toledo. SWB has never won the series at Toledo in consecutive years during its time as the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate.

OFF THE RAILS: Eleven of the game's 12 runs crossed thanks to two-out RBIs including each of the seven for SWB...The RailRiders have homered in a season-best five straight games...With Judge at second and one out in the fifth inning, Jake Cave received the first intentional walk of his pro career...A lineout and groundout followed...Toledo's battery nabbed two of three would-be base stealers on the game...Both Gamel and Cave were cut down at second base in the third...Toledo leads the IL with 32 men caught in 64 attempts (50%)...The mean average for the circuit's other 13 teams is 29.9%...Opposing starters have allowed 31 runs (28 earned) over their 23.2 innings on this road trip (10.65 ERA) as the RailRiders have hit a collective .344 (66-for-192) with nine doubles, three triples and nine homers...Only Charlotte (4.55/gm) has scored more runs in the IL than SWB (4.48/gm)...Ten different RailRiders have logged a save this season after Giovanny Gallegos secured his first career Triple-A boltdown last night.
