Louisville, K.Y. - The Bats posted a 4-2 win over the Syracuse Chiefs at Louisville Slugger Field on Wednesday afternoon. The victory marks the Bats' first home series sweep of the season.
Righty Jon Moscot (2-3, 6.68) pitched six innings and earned the win, allowing six hits and two earned runs, striking out two. He did not walk a batter.
The Bats got on the board in the bottom of the third when shortstop Carlos Triunfel's groundball single scored catcher Raffy Lopez. Left-fielder Scott Schebler followed that with a two run triple to center, making it 3-0 Louisville.
Syracuse punched back in the top of the fourth with a two run home run by third baseman Matt Skole.
Louisville's left-fielder Donald Lutz immediately responded in the bottom half with a homer of his own, making it 4-2 Bats.
That was where the scoring stopped. Louisville worked out a pair of high pressure situations in the seventh and eighth to maintain control of the game and walk away with the victory.
Right hander Michael Lorenzen, making his second appearance on a Major League rehab, pitched a perfect ninth (13 pitches, 10 strikes), striking out the side to collect his first save of the season.
The Bats take Thursday off but kick off a three game home series against the Pawtucket Red Socks on Friday at 7:05 p.m. EST at Louisville Slugger Field.
