Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

Lehigh Valley IronPigs (7-6) vs Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (10-5)

Game 16 | Home Game 7 | Wednesday, April 17, 2024 | First Pitch 6:35 PM

RHP Max Castillo (0-0, 4.82) vs RHP Yoendrys Gómez (0-0, 3.00)

YOUNG YOENDRYS- Yankees #18 prospect Yoendrys Gomez is making his third start of the season tonight. In his first two outings he went three innings on exactly 49 pitches. He has allowed just two earned runs on six hits and three walks. The righty has struck out eight.

ONE RUN- The RailRiders scored just one run last night in their loss to the IronPigs. It was the least amount of runs they have scored in a contest this season. The team scored two runs in a loss back on April 6 versus Syracuse.

CARLOS CAN- Carlos Narvaez is a primary catcher for the RailRiders and in his time in the Yankees farm system. However, for the past two seasons he has been appearing at first base, so much so he purchased the correct glove in the offseason. Last night, Narvaez appeared mid-game at third base for the first time in his professional career.

T.J. TIME- T.J. Rumfield made his Triple-A debut yesterday, reaching base three of four times. First on an error, then on a walk, and finally a line drive into right field for his first base hit. Rumfield was traded from PHI along with LHP Joel Valdez to NYY for RHP Nick Nelson and C Donny Sands.

MULTI-HIT CONTEST- Carlos Narvaez and Jose Rojas each recorded two hits in the game last night. For Narvaez, his pair of singles, marked his fourth multi-hit contest. Rojas notched a double and a single for his third two-hit game.

IN THE FIRST- The RailRiders have allowed the most runs to score on them in the first frame with eleven, after three more yesterday. However, the team has plated their third most runs in the first inning, reaching ten total with one last night. SWB has scored their most in the fifth and eighth inning with twelve runs apiece.

CODY CLIPPED- Reliever Cody Morris snapped his scoreless streak last night allowing two runs on a Kody Clemens homer. Prior, Morris had made three shutout appearances working five and a third frames in total. This is the righty's first stint in the Yankees system after being traded from Cleveland for Estevan Florial.

WILD WORK- SWB's pitching staff has recorded 20 wild pitches thus far. It is five more than the next Triple-A team. However, Myrtle Beach leads Minor League baseball with 28 wild tosses.

BRANDON'S BEST - Brandon Lockridge finished a ten-game on base streak after going 0-for-5 last night. In that time frame, Lockridge batted .308 with eight hits and four runs batted in. He stole eight bases and played all three outfield positions.
