
Scott Kingery Belts his Fourth Homer of the Year as 'Pigs Falter Late in Loss to RailRiders

Moosic, Pennsylvania - For the first time this season the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (7-7) fell in a one-run game, losing the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 5-4 on Wednesday night at PNC Field.
The 'Pigs opened the scoring in the first inning. Kody Clemens tripled to open the game and scored on a Jordan Luplow groundout. The RailRiders tied the game in the last of the first on a T.J. Rumfield double, plating Caleb Durbin.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre took the lead for the first time in the third. Rumfield came through again, driving in Durbin again this time with a single.
Luplow singled to open the fourth and then went first to third on a Darick Hall single. Weston Wilson then grounded into a double play, plating Groshans to tie the game.
In the last of the fourth, Jose Rojas doubled to start the frame and moved to third on a Jordan Groshans single. Rojas then scored on a Josh VanMeter sacrifice fly to make it 3-2.
Scott Kingery belted a solo homer to begin the fifth, his team-leading fourth of the season, tying the game at 3-3.
The IronPigs took a late lead in the eighth. Clemens doubled to start the frame and Luplow promptly singled him home to make it 4-3 IronPigs.
In the last of the eighth, Groshans belted a two-out, two-strike, two-run homer, to vault the RailRiders in front for good, his first homer of the year.
Jake Cousins (1-0) picked up the win in relief for the RailRiders. Cousins worked 1.1 innings, allowing a run on two hits and a walk, striking out two.
Jose Ruiz (0-1) suffered the loss for the IronPigs. Ruiz allowed two runs on three hits in an inning of work, striking out one.
Duane Underwood Jr. (S, 2) pitched a scoreless ninth, allowing just a hit and striking out one, to earn the save for the RailRiders.
The IronPigs and RailRiders continue their series on Thursday, April 18 with first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m. Mick Abel (1-0, 6.75) goes for Lehigh Valley while Scranton/Wilkes-Barre counters with Will Warren (1-0, 8.68).
