I-Cubs Take Game Two vs. Louisville

DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (11-6) won their second straight game vs. the Louisville Bats (7-10) by a 4-3 score today at Principal Park. Cubs' No. 3 prospect Owen Caissie hit his first career Triple-A home run in the fifth inning.

Louisville took a 1-0 lead in the third as Michael Trautwein grounded out to bring home a run. In the bottom half of the frame, Iowa tied the game at 1-1 on a sacrifice fly from David Peralta.

The I-Cubs took a 2-1 advantage in the fifth on the solo home run from Caissie. Iowa extended their lead to 4-1 in the sixth on a two-run double from Matt Mervis.

The Bats cut into the I-Cubs lead to 4-3 in the eighth inning as P.J. Higgins hit a two-run homer over the left field wall.

Edwin Escobar tossed 2.0 scoreless innings in relief and earned his second win of the season. Carl Edwards Jr. also pitched 2.0 scoreless innings with three strikeouts and picked up his first save.

POSTGAME NOTES:

- Iowa has won 11 of their last 15 games dating back to March 31.

- The I-Cubs improved to 4-4 in one-run games.
