
Sussex Sweeps Rox in Rainy Doubleheader

AUGUSTA, NJ -Two days after the Rox were scheduled to begin their road schedule, Brockton fell twice to the Sussex Skyhawks in their first two road contests in a doubleheader at Skylands Park in Augusta, NJ The Skyhawks scored two runs in their final at-bat in the first game to win 2-1 and Brockton came up two runs short in the nightcap, falling 4-2. SS Eugene Julien had three hits and an RBI in the doubleheader for the Rox.
In the first game of the doubleheader, LHP Rolando Viera took one-hit shutout into the seventh inning. The Rox scored the first and only run in the first six innings on a Julien RBI single that scored RF Keith Brachold from second. In the top of the seventh with Viera gunning for the complete-game, Sussex 1B Ryan Lehr doubled to left- center and knocked Viera out of the game. RHP Jason Wylie entered the game in an attempt for his third straight save, but loaded the bases and gave up a swinging bunt single to Skyhawks LF Darin Kinsolving, tying the game at one and an RBI single to SS Robert LeNoir allowing Sussex to complete the comeback win.
In the second game, Brockton took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. C Jason Radwan drove home his first run of the season with an RBI single and scored later in the inning on a fielders' choice off the bat of LF Travis Gulick. Starter RHP Robert Averette did not hold the lead as Skyhawk C Abraham Ayala's two-ruun single in the bottom of the inning gave the Skyhawks the lead for good. RHP Julio Perez struck out all three Rox batters he faced in the seventh inning for the save.
Tomorrow the Rox and Skyhawks play their second straight doubleheader when RHP Brad Guy (0-0, 3.21 ERA, 2 GS) starts against Sussex RHP Lincoln Mincks in the first game and RHP Mike Henry (0-1, 10.80 ERA, 1 GS) squares off against RHP Kevin Olsen in the second. Both games are seven-inning affairs and begin at 1:05 PM.
