Surge Drop Series Finale in Arkansas

Wichita, KS- The Wind Surge dropped the series finale 6-1 against the Arkansas Travelers on Sunday afternoon as the Surge committed five errors and struggled to find an offensive rhythm.

The Surge trailed early as Dennis Ortega tied the game 1-1 in the second inning as he hit an RBI single that scored Kennie Taylor. Ortega finished the afternoon one for four with an RBI.

The Travelers scored two runs in the third inning behind an RBI-double from Jack Larsen and a sacrifice fly from Jake Scheiner that would give the Travelers a 3-1 advantage. Arkansas forced an early exit from Wind Surge starting pitcher Blayne Enlow as he pitched just three and one third innings, allowing three runs on four hits.

Arkansas grabbed three more insurance runs in the sixth courtesy of a two-out two-run RBI single from Joe Rizzo and an RBI single from Jake Scheiner that extended the lead to 6-1. Rizzo finished the day two for three with two RBIs and two walks.

The Wind Surge lost the series, dropping four of six games. Wichita has won seven series, dropped two and split a series thus far.

Notes: The Surge remain in first place in the Texas League, leading Tulsa by 1 ½ games and Arkansas by two games...Wichita committed five errors in the ballgame (most in team history) ...The Surge drop to 6-6 in day games this season...Edouard Julien and Anthony Prato have reached base in eight consecutive games. Matt Wallner and Hitting Coach Derek Shomon were ejected in the sixth inning by umpire Steven Rios.

Coming Up: The Wind Surge will continue their longest road trip of the season as they will head to Tulsa for a six-game series against the Drillers starting on Tuesday, June 14th.
