Mississippi Surge News Release
Biloxi, MS - After an early two goal lead, the Surge slowly fell to the Cottonmouths in a heart throbbing shootout.
The Surge played an all-star second period scoring both of their goals in the period. With an assist from Kyle Kudroch, Surge newbie Trever Hertz scored the first goal and later Evan Zych netted the second (Justin MacDonald, Nicholas Kuqali).
In the third, Columbus found their stride as Jason Gray (Matt Gingera, Dan Bremmer) scored just 3 minutes into the period. With virtually all momentum stolen right from under them, the Surge battled hard in overtime, forcing the matchup into a shootout. Andy Willigar and Kyle Johnson scored twice, while the Surge were shut down by Columbus net minder, Andrew Loewen.
The Surge will look to end the regular season with some momentum as they face the RiverKings, before facing the Pensacola IceFlyers next week in round one of the playoffs.
