The Atlantic City Surf scored five runs on five hits in the third inning to sweep the Pennsylvania Road Warriors 7-2, Wednesday night at the Sandcastle in front of 1675 fans.
Jose Velazquez paced the big inning with a three-run homer. Velazquez went 2-for-4 with four RBI in the contest.
with the victory the Surf moved to within three games of the Somerset Patriots in the race for the second half championship in the Southern Division. Atlantic City has now won five of its last six games.
Surf starter Todd Etler picked up his first Atlantic League win throwing 5.1 innings allowing two runs, one earned while walking two and striking out four.
Steve Gagliano took his seventh loss giving up six earned runs on seven hits while lasting only three innings.
Dario Delgado hit his 12th homerun of the season for the Road Warriors.
ON DECK: The Camden Riversharks come in for a three-game series starting tomorrow night at 6:35 at the Sandcastle. The Expressway Series is tied at six games a piece. The Surf took two of three the last time these teams met in Camden.
