Surf Sweep Road Warriors Again

The Atlantic City Surf (25-20) defeated the Pennsylvania Road Warriors (11-32), 9-3, Tuesday night at the Sandcastle in front of 2157 fans for their second straight sweep of the Road Warriors.

Atlantic City jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first on a RBI sacrifice fly off the bat of Ben Candelaria and RBI singles from Brandon Jackson and Chad Gambill.

The Surf added three more in the third on a RBI ground-rule by Willy Ruiz to score Jackson and Gambill.

Alex Osuna scored both Pennsylvania runs on RBI singles from Omar Rosario in the second and Wellington Sanchez in the fifth.

Creighton Gubanich and Brody Jackson both hit solo homeruns in the sixth to put the Surf up by seven.

Juan Thomas blasted his 22nd homerun of the year to right field off Pennsylvania reliever John Rosengren, to come within one of the league lead of 22 held by Damian Sapp.

Brody was 4-5 with two runs scored.

Surf starter Anthony Chavez put together a solid outing allowing two runs, one earned on six hits in six innings of work. Chavez extended his league-leading strikeout total to 111.

SURF- ON DECK: The Atlantic City Surf will head to Newark for a three-game series with the Bears starting tomorrow night. They will return home on the 30th to host the Bridgport Bluefish. There will be a fireworks display following the game sponsored by New Jersey American Water.
