
Surf Sign Zayas, Release Hogan, Ledesma

Atlantic City, N.J. - The Atlantic City Surf of the Can-Am League have announced the signing of infielder Gil Zayas. Zayas spent the 2008 season with St. John's University, appearing in 54 of the team's 58 games, hitting .260 with three home runs and 28 RBI as the Red Storm went 42-16 and qualified for NCAA regional play. The native of Cuba currently resides in North Bergen, N.J.
The club also announced that it has released infielders Arturo Ledesma and Billy Hogan. In 22 games, most at third base, Hogan hit .234 with one home run and nine RBI. Ledesma appeared in 12 games in the infield, hitting .172 with six runs scored.
