(Atlantic City, N.J., August 8, 2008) The Nashua Pride were not able to keep up with the Atlantic City Surf bats, dropping game one of a three game series, 15-9, at Bernie Robbins Stadium on Saturday night.

Atlantic City was led by catcher Will Plaza who went 3-for-3 on the night with a three run home run and four RBI. Second baseman Brad Thoma was 1-for-3 and nailed a grand slam to also drive in four runs.

Pride first baseman Bryan Duplissie hit a pair of home runs in the effort for Nashua and notched three RBI going 2-for-5, while left fielder Jerod Edmondson hit his first homer of the season and ended the night 2-for-4 with three RBI. Catcher Mike Torres finished the night 3-for-5 with 3 RBI.

Surf starting pitcher Rory Shortell (7-2) earned the victory going six innings, giving up five runs, on seven hits and seven strike outs. Relievers Derek Duclos and Austine Redwine combined to give up four runs in three innings in relief.

Pride starter Lance Stevens (7-5) suffered the loss, lasting four and two-thirds innings, giving up eight runs, on seven hits, four walks and four strike outs. Nashua sent five pitchers to the mound from the bullpen, combining to give up seven runs, on six hits, four walks and one strike out.

The Pride and Surf will meet again on Saturday night, at 7:05pm, when Nashua sends Isaac Burkett (3-2) to the mound against Atlantic City's Brian Rodaway (8-6).
