Surf Offense Pounds Nashua

The Atlantic City Surf defeated the Nashua Pride 7-3 before 1525 at the Sandcastle Monday night. The Surf victory coupled with Camden''s loss to Bridgeport left the Surf five games in front of the Riversharks in the race for the second half championship in the South Division. Atlantic City has 27 games remaining in the second half.

Ric Johnson led the Surf attack with a 3-for-4 night with two RBIs and a solo home run. Steve Hine drove in two more runs for the Surf, which got another stellar pitching effort from starter Brian Williams. Williams worked seven innings to earn his seventh win of the season against five losses. The Surf are now 27-9 in the second half and 31-12 under manager Mitch Williams. Travis Baptist took the loss for Nashua. The Surf scored four runs in the fifth innings off Baptist, who had not allowed an earned run in his last four starts. Atlantic City sent nine men to the plate in the inning. Pete Incaviglia went 2-for-4 with one RBI for the Surf.
