Newark, NJ- Anthony Chavez looked solid today as he pitched seven innings of one-run baseball against Matt Wagner and the Bears. Wagner has been a tough pitcher to hit against this season, but the Surf bats took no part in the "stat-game", and came out hitting Wagner hard.

The Surf put two runs on the board in the second inning on a couple RBI hits. Then in the third inning Juan Thomas came to bat with Brandon Jackson at second base and crushed his thrid homer in two days. The Surf took the 4-0 lead. Wagner got the first two men out in the fourth inning, but the Surf wanted more runs so they piled on three with back-to-back RBI singles by Raul Marval and Jackson. Marval scored on a miss play from the rightfielder for the third run that inning.

The Bears trailed 7-1 untill the eighth inning when they scored three runs off Dave Carroll. Micheal Coleman hit a two-run shot.

with the Surf on top 7-4 in the top of the ninth, Brandon Jackson launched a line drive into the gap of right-center bringing home two valuable Surf runs. AC led 9-4 going into the bottom of the ninth, and those two runs would end up playing a role. The Bears scored three more runs in the ninth on a double-play bases loaded and another Coleman two-run homer. Coleman has hit seven of his 15 Home runs against the Surf!

Randi Mallard came in to relieve Travis Thompson and on his first pitch forced a fly ball for out-number-three and the save.

The Surf pick up a big win against the Bears with the Road Warriors coming to town tommorow. The Surf can easily take two-of-three to keep them rolling.

Chavez pickes up his seventh win with Randi Mallard saving his 16th game.

Come out to the castle and cheer on your Surf tommorow night at 6:35pm.
