New Jersey Jackals News Release
The Jackals smacked five doubles while three pitchers combined to toss a three-hitter as New Jersey downed Berkshire 3-1 at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls.
New Jersey backed starting pitcher Trevor Marcotte with a three-run, two-out rally in the bottom of the second inning. With nobody on, Chris Rown singled. Then three consecutive doubles by Craig Conway, Mikaela Dworken and John Anderson put the Jackals ahead to stay, 3-0.
Marcotte (6-3) allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out five in seven innings to record the victory. Chris Keelin pitched the eighth, striking out the side in order. Ben Grezlovski followed with a perfect ninth for his sixth save of the season.
Rick Guttormson (4-6) took the loss, surrendering three runs and nine hits in seven innings.
The Jackals bottom third of the order, Rowan, Conway and Dworken, combined to go 6-for-9 with two RBI and three runs scored in the game. Darren Blakely also doubled twice for New Jersey.
