
Surf closes regular season with 11-5 win

ATLANTIC CITY _ The Atlantic City Surf defeated the Newark Bears 11-5 Sunday at Bernie Robbins Stadium.
The victory, propelled by Joe Jiannetti's 4-for-5, four-RBI afternoon, left the Surf at 69-57 overall and 36-27 in the second half.
The Surf will now open a best-of-three Atlantic League playoff series with the Lancaster Barnstormers on Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m. at Bernie Robbins Stadium. Games two and thee(if neccesary) will be played at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster.
The Surf pounded out 16 hits in the victory, the regular-season finale. Ozzie Timmons and Dario Delgado had two RBIs for the Surf.
Alexis Hernandez had a 3-for-4, three RBI day for the Bears.
Charile Hessltine, 3-2, got the victory for Atlantic City.
Ernie Delgado, 0-4, took the loss for the Bears.
Newark finished at 21-41 in the second half; 42-83 overall.
