River City Rascals News Release

Marion, IL - Danny Powers had a stopper type start as the River City Rascals took the last of three from the Southern Illinois Miners 7-1 Sunday night at Rent One Park.

Powers (3-3) allowed only one run as it came in the sixth inning and had the benefit of pitching with a lead for the majority of the game on his way to the win. The righty lasted seven innings and allowed six hits while striking out six.

The offense backed him beginning in the third inning when Luke Barganier extended his hitting streak to 18 games with an RBI double. Barganier's 18 game span is the longest in the Frontier League this season. A.J. Van Slyke would later drive in Barganier with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0 River City.

River City added another run in the fourth off a Will Basom RBI single and four more in the fifth to pad the lead. Van Slyke and Jeff Miller both tripled in runs and Brad Hough collected his first RBI since June 20 with a single. Andrew Sweet drove in the Rascals final run with a sacrifice fly to center field, making it 7-0.

Reid Price (2-2) started for Southern Illinois and took the loss allowing all seven runs in 4.1 innings, giving up eight hits and striking out five.

Former Rascal Randy Rosa scored the Miners only run when he was driven in by Brandon Jones in the sixth.

The Rascals (22-23) return home after a day off Tuesday for a six game home stand against the two best teams in the league, Traverse City and Kalamazoo. For tickets, call the Rascals at (636) 240-BATS or visit www.rivercityrascals.com.
