Suns Win Fourth Straight Behind Demny, Norris

GREENSBORO, NC: The Hagerstown Suns (16-15) defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers (18-16) by a score of 6-4 on Friday for the teams' fourth straight win.

Paul Demny (1-1) stole the show early for the Suns with five and two thirds innings of work while allowing only a single unearned run. The righthander earned the win while striking out seven batters and allowing just three hits and one walk.

Offensively, Suns catcher Derek Norris led the way with three hits including two doubles and three runs scored. Right fielder Michael Guerrero also had three hits, all singles, and drove in two runs for Hagerstown.

Justin Phillabaum pitched two innings of relief for Hagerstown and allowed just one run, also unearned, while striking out two batters. Carlos Peralta earned his second save of the season with one and one third innings of work out of the bullpen.

Greensboro starting pitcher Brad Hand took the loss for the home team by allowing three earned runs in just three innings of work.

For the second consecutive game, the Suns trailed early after allowing a run in the bottom of the first inning. The Suns responded with two of their own in the top of the second and never again trailed.

The Suns and Grasshoppers will play the third game of their four game series on Saturday at 7:05 pm.
