Suns Win Again, Shut Down GreenJackets 6-1

Augusta, GA - The Hagerstown Suns (12-9) held the Augusta GreenJackets' (9-12) offense two just three singles in a 6-1 victory at Lake Olmstead Stadium in Augusta, GA, on Saturday night. It was the Suns' sixth win in seven games.

Suns' starting pitcher Brian Dupra (2-3) earned his second straight win, first as a starter, with five solid innings on the mound. He allowed one run on three hits, two walks and two strike outs. Ben Hawkins dealt three hitless innings and struck out four batters after Dupra, followed by a perfect ninth inning by Bobby Lucas to end the game.

Bryce Ortega notched a pair of hits and runs in the game as he extended his season long on-base streak to 17 consecutive games. Cutter Dykstra (2-for-4, 2B, 2 R, RBI) and Billy Burns (1-for-3, R, 2 BB, 2 RBIs) both extended their respective hitting streaks, Dykstra at seven games and Burns at a team-high eight consecutive games. Matt Skole added an RBI single to up his South Atlantic League leading total to 30 RBIs on the season.

Augusta starter Bryce Bandilla (1-1) suffered the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) over four-plus innings of work. Left fielder Shawn Payne had two of the GreenJackets three hits in the game to go along with two stolen bases.

The Suns will play game two of the series with the GreenJackets in Augusta on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. RHP Alex Meyer (1-2) will start for the Suns against Augusta's RHP Kyle Crick (0-1).
