Drew Muren's walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning gave the Lexington Legends a 5-4 win over the Savannah Sand Gnats Saturday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
The Legends jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run homer by Matt Duffy off Savannah starter Michael Fulmer. John Hinson's solo shot in the second made the score 3-0 Lexington.
Savannah got on the board in the third. Luis Nieves reached on an error by Lexington starter Jonas Dufek, stole second and came home on a double by T.J. Rivera.
The Sand Gnats tied the score in the fifth. Albert Cordero led off with a double and advanced to third when Nieves reached on an error by Hinson, the second baseman. Nieves stole second, and after
Tillman Pugh struck out, Rivera, the league's leading hitter with an average of .407, homered to left field to bring the Sand Gnats even at 4-4.
There was no further scoring until Muren, leading off the 11th, connected against Savannah reliever T.J. Chism.
Dayan Diaz (4-0), pitched two scoreless innings in relief and got the win. Chism (1-1) took the loss. The series continues Sunday afternoon. Game time is 1:35 p.m.
