
Suns stay hot with sixth straight win

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns won their season high sixth game in a row, beating Kannapolis 8-5 on Tuesday morning. RF Jesus Gamero continued to have a killer series, knocking in 5 helping Jonathan Niese cruise to his 10th win of the year.
Niese went 5 1/3 innings, allowing 1-run and k'ing six. He has only allowed 2-runs in his last 14 1/4 innings of work. Kevin Tomasiewicz came in with the tying run at the plate in the 9th and nailed down his 11th save of the year. The Suns got production once again from almost every hitter in their lineup. It all starts with Fernando Martinez, as the Suns are 21-18 with him in the lineup this year. They have yet to lose ever since he came back off the DL 6 games ago. He went 1-4 with a run scored and Jose Castro and Rafael Arroyo each had 3 hit games. Castro scored 3 times as well to make it 6 runs scored in the series for the Shortstop. He laced singles in each of the 2nd, 7th and 8th innings. RF Jesus Gamero went 2-3 with 5 driven in to make it 9 RBI in the two games. Coming into the series, Gamero had 2 RBI, going into the 3rd game of the series, he has 11. DH Jonel Pacheco also added 2 hits. The Suns have a total 29 hits in the two games, outscoring the Intimidators 21-6 in the two contests.
The Suns (14-17) are now 13-1 all-time in games that have started before noon and have taken 7 of their last 8. They have scored multi-run innings 7 times in the two games and 4-runs twice in an inning.
Tomorrow, the Suns and Indimidators play game number 3 of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
