SAVANNAH, Ga. - John Poppert's walk-off home run in the 13th inning gave the Savannah Sand Gnats a 7-6 win over the Lexington Legends Tuesday night at Historic Grayson Stadium in Game 2 of a doubleheader.

The blast was Poppert's seventh of the season and was Savannah's second walk-off home run of the year. The long ball broke a six-and-a-half inning scoreless streak for both teams that lasted from the top of the seventh on.

Gene Yost benefited from Poppert's heroics, picking up his seventh win of the season with one inning of relief, which included two strikeouts. Josh Perrault was stellar out of the bullpen, going four innings without allowing a hit or a walk, and recorded three strikeouts in the effort.

Tim Pahuta put the Gnats in line for the late victory, going 2-for-4 in the game with two runs, a pair of RBI, a double and a triple. Pahuta's triple to straightaway center in the sixth plated Alex Nunez, and Pahuta later scored on a passed ball in the frame to tie the game at 6-6.

Ofilio Castro also drove in two runs in the game, including a solo homer in the fifth inning - his fifth long ball of the year.

Savannah and Lexington are next in action Wednesday at 12:05 p.m. The Sand Gnats will send left-hander John Lannan to the mound to face Legends' righty Garrett Murdy. For tickets and a complete schedule, click the Ticket Return logo above, or call the Sand Gnats offices at 912-351-9150.
