
Suns Split Twin Bill with Greensboro on Saturday

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns split a double header with the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Saturday night, losing the first game 3-0 but bouncing back to take game-two 4-0. The Suns are 18-30 overall and will play the fourth game of the series with a 2:05 PM first pitch at Historic Municipal Stadium on Sunday.
After a two-hour rain delay to start off the day, game one began at 7:37 PM. After three scoreless innings, Zach Sullivan singled then scored on an RBI double by B.J. Lopez against Jackson Tetreault. After Lopez moved to third on a wild pitch, Sam Castro singled to right field to score Lopez for the second run of the inning for the Grasshoppers giving the visitors a 2-0 lead.
In the fifth inning, Micah Brown lifted a sacrifice fly to score Jose Devers, increasing the lead to 3-0. Greensboro starter Ryan Lillie retired the last 13 Suns hitters in order to secure the shutout and a 3-0 win.
Tetreault (0-6) went five innings in a loss allowing three runs on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts. Sam Held pitched two innings in relief with two hits, a walk, and three strikeouts.
The second game of the doubleheader ended on Sunday morning. After five and a half innings of scoreless baseball the Suns put a run on the board when Michael Mertz of the Grasshoppers walked four batters in a row, to give the Suns a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded, Alex Flores singled to left field scoring both Corredor and Franco to extend the lead to 3-0. Armond Upshaw continued the rally with a single to right, scoring Luis Garcia and giving the Suns a 4-0 lead. Phil Morse allowed a leadoff walk in the seventh but retired the next three hitters to end the game with the Suns taking a 4-0 victory.
Kyle Johnston threw four shutout innings while allowing two hits, a walk, and four strikeouts. Andrew Lee (1-0) threw two innings of shutout relief, allowing two hits and two walks with a game-high six strikeouts. Morse hurled one inning allowing a walk with two strikeouts.
Notes: The Suns split a double header for the second time this season... Tetreault walked four batters, which is a new career-high... Flores has four multi-hit games this season... He also has three multi-RBI efforts in 2018... The Suns won their second shutout of the season in game two... Hagerstown was held to two hits in game one, which ties a season-low for a seven-inning game... They were also shut out for the third time in a seven-inning contest... The Suns have been held scoreless in seven games this season... The Suns lead the series 2-1 and will play the fourth game of the five-game set on Sunday with a 2:05 PM first pitch... Hagerstown will send RHP A.J. Bogucki (1-1, 4.78 ERA) to the hill while the Grasshoppers will counter with LHP Trevor Rogers (0-1, 9.00 ERA)...
