GreenJackets Lose Pitchers' Duel

May 27, 2018 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Augusta GreenJackets News Release

North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost 3-0 to the Rome Braves on Sunday night.

Both pitchers brought their A games to SRP Park. Bruce Zimmerman of the Braves and John Gavin of the GreenJackets both were dominate on the mound. The pitchers only allowed three hits apiece and never put themselves into any trouble throughout the game.

In the sixth inning, Alan Crowley took John Gavin deep for a solo home run to left field. This would be his only blemish on the night. Gavin would get tagged with loss, after another fantastic performance on the mound.

At the plate, the GreenJackets were shut down by Braves pitching. They only managed three hits in the game. This is the first time this season that Augusta has been shutout this season. It was an impressive 45 game streak where the GreenJackets were able to put up at least one run.

The GreenJackets will be back in action tomorrow at 2 pm as they look to take the four-game series against the Braves.

Tomorrow we have our Mega Memorial Day Bash! Come out and join us for this awesome 8 game homestand!
