Suns set for playoffs!

The Suns are headed for the playoffs.

With tonight's victory over the Lexington Legends, the Suns will participate in the South Atlantic League playoffs immediately following the season. The 9-4 win clinched the 1st half championship and sends the team to the playoffs for the first time since 2001.

The team will announce playoff ticket sales procedures within the following 2-3 weeks. The Suns will host games 2 and 3 (if necessary) of the 3 game 1st round North Division series. Should the team advance to the finals, the Suns would host games 1 and 2 of the best of five series.

Nearly 3,500 fans cheered the team to victory at Municipal Stadium. A five run 5th inning propelled the team to the 9-4 lead that they never relinquished.

The playoff-bound Suns are home again tomorrow, Sunday, for the final game of this short two-game series vs. Lexington. The league take's a 3 day rest Monday through Wednesday as the South Atlantic League All Star game, featuring 8 members of the Suns, will take the field in Augusta, GA, on Tuesday night.
