Power Edges Captains 6-4

Lake County Captains News Release

(Charleston, WV)--The West Virginia Power notched a 6-4 win over the Lake County Captains Saturday at Appalachian Power Park.

Power first baseman Grant Richardson belted a two run double in the seventh inning off Cody Bunkelman to snap a 4-4 tie. Richardson drove a pitch to the wall in cente field where Juan Valdes appeared to make the catch but dropped the ball when he ran into the center field wall.

Bunkelman (0-3) allowed six runs, four earned, in 6 2/3 innings. Richardson had two doubles on the night.

Righthander Derek DeCarlo (3-3) earned the win with three innings of relief. He allowed two unearned runs in the seventh when the Captains tied the game 4-4.

Catcher Wyatt Toregas was 3-5 on the night for the Captains, who left eight men on base.

It was the third straight loss for the Captains (2-3, 42-33).

The Captains and Power will finish the two-game series on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 (WELW AM 1330).
